In line with promoting the core values of Rotary International (RI), a billboard featuring the Rotary 4-Way Test was unveiled at the Lagos Bus Stand in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
The billboard was a joint project of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Garden City, and the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Spring Garden, RIDistrict 9141.
Unveiling the billboard, Rotarian Julius Aguni, former Rotary club president and district officer for RIDistrict 9141, commended the clubs for bringing to society some of the guiding principles of Rotary that guide the conduct of Rotarians.
According to him, “it is a billboard of the 4-way test, showcasing one of the core values of Rotary and, of course, by which every Rotarian maintains high ethical standards by living up to the words of the 4-way test. .
“So having this 4-a-side test notice board in such a central location would mean that our community will be able to see and understand what Rotary does, and in fact, it will help us promote a peaceful environment,” he said. he declares.
In their separate speeches, the presidents of the two clubs, Rotarians Timi Favor Bubagha and Chidi Paul Njoku, said the erection of the billboard project was to promote the public image of Rotary and that he should explain to society what Rotary is.
Bubagha of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Garden City, in his words, said, “The importance of the 4-a-side test billboard is to sell Rotary’s identity to the world, to introduce Rotary to our immediate community, telling them what we do in Rotary. , which are these seven areas of intervention, promoting peace.
“Rotary encourages conversations to foster understanding within and across cultures, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education, develop local economies and protect the environment”.
For his part, Njoku of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Spring Garden, said, “What we are passing on is to make sure that as many people as possible read it, it will have a positive impact on the community. They would be better citizens and of course Rotary is open to anyone to come and join us.”
The event drew Rotarians and friends of Rotary to Port Harcourt as well as district officers from District 9141.
