Opening of F2F classes: the Province will distribute school supplies, hold meals for schoolchildren

THE Cebu provincial government will soon distribute school supplies and organize a feeding program for K-K-12 students when face-to-face classes resume in public schools in August.

These school supplies include notebooks, pads of paper, pencils, ballpoint pens and colored pencils.

“I am happy that we are now back to face-to-face classes and we are now preparing for the opening of classes in August nga ang tanan natong (that all of our) kinder, grade 1, grade 2, grade 3 until at K12 makadawat og (will receive) school supplies and naa nay (there are) notebooks, notepad paper, ballpoint pen and for kindergarten naay crayola ato nang i-distribute karong (we will distribute them in) august said Garcia.

In addition to school supplies, the province will also conduct a feeding program for school children in line with its Sugbusog program, involving schools to promote home gardening to combat hunger and malnutrition.

“I’m also thinking of integrating the Sugbusog program into a feeding program for our school children. They ask me unsaon mani nimong dako kaayo ang atong (what will you do with our big) SEF (Special Education Fund). Well, I mostly want to spend it on our children, I want to spend it on our students. I’m researching this program, but now I want to evolve it into a school feeding program, at least until no child has to go hungry,” Garcia said.

The Sugbusog program was launched in 2020 to help Cebuanos generate enough food during the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

In April 2021, Garcia revealed plans to implement the school feeding program using the plants and other vegetables planted in the garden under the Sugbusog program for their food menu. (ANV, TPT)
