The Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc., is sponsoring a standard flower show, “Let’s Go to the Movies,” from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 6; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 7 at Burnstein Hall at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Naperville Garden Club and Cress Creek Garden Club members are ready to participate.
With a view of the garden and access to Runnells Courtyard, where visitors can view the garden’s famous bonsai collection, Burnstein Hall is sure to provide a beautiful backdrop for any entrances that help carry out the film’s theme.
“Look out for the floral designs and horticultural entries of the Naperville Garden Club and the Cress Creek Garden Club,” said Marilyn Krueger, longtime member and former president of the Naperville Garden Club, who is now president of the Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc. “Diane Greenawalt is the president of the Flower Show,” she added.
Krueger, who also writes about gardening in a monthly column featured in Positively Naperville, suggests, “Visitors will enjoy the beauty of the show, learn about the plants successfully grown in our region and have time to stroll through the gardens. Please let the Flower Show hosts know you are from Naperville.
Admission to the Flower Show at Burnstein Hall is free with paid admission ($17.95 per non-resident of Cook County) to the Chicago Botanic Garden.
The Chicago Botanical Garden is located at 1000 Cook Road in Glencoe.
