YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) The Home and Garden show drew large crowds this past weekend. It was a great place to learn about new home products, but what about our locally grown plants.

The four local garden clubs work throughout the year to prepare and grow Yuma’s plants.

“I’m glad to have this opportunity to let others know that there are things here in Yuma that might surprise them and that it’s all in the gardening,” said Bill Watts, a Moody Garden volunteer.

The Home and Garden Show takes place every year, allowing gardeners to share why their plants are so unique.

“So they won’t be like the ones that are shipped to the big box stores, they come in and don’t grow for you and you get frustrated and give up. And that doesn’t happen here because these are plants grown locally by garden club members,” said Yuma Garden Club member Lydia Reibel.

Club members like to get together and find ways to help the community.

“Everyone likes to grow something and it’s part of us and so as a garden club we’re here to help,” Watts said.

Local gardeners are always available throughout the year to give advice or answer your questions.

Local garden clubs are always looking for volunteers or new members to help out in their gardens.
