Mount Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 230 Boyd St., Winterville, will host a revival at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, June 16 and 17. Guest pastors will be Bishop Marcus Miller and Curtis O. Donald. A Youth Appreciation Service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 19 with Evangelist Lee Stiles; a pantry giveaway will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., June 25.

The Winterville Recreation and Parks Department will host music and movies in the park from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at 332 Sylvania Street. The main event band will perform.

The Snow Hill Lion’s Club is sponsoring its Family Fun Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 25, adjacent to the Greene County Senior Center, 104 Greenridge Road. The Ayden Historical and Arts Society Museum will hold its monthly open day from 2-5pm on June 26. Spend time on Father’s Day in the cool building, browse local history, and take one last look at the Alex Warren photography exhibit. Over the next few weeks, these beautiful photos, featuring local buildings and homes as well as unique settings in the natural world, will be returned to their owners, and works by other local artists will be displayed in the gallery. Admission is free, donations are welcome, and guides will be on hand to answer any questions and point out specific highlights.

The Grifton Historical Museum and Indian Village, 437 Creekshore Drive, is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the first and third Sundays of each month. Appointments are also available by calling 524-0190. Admission is always free.

The Community Outreach soup kitchen at 3492 S. Walnut St. in Farmville serves hot meals from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The kitchen depends on donations and volunteers. To volunteer or for more information, call Janet Heath at 917-4563.

Pitt County Schools School Nutrition Services will serve free meals to 18 and under at multiple sites this summer. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday and lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in most cafeterias. The following sites will be open from June 20 to August 20. 11: Ayden Elementary, Belvoir Elementary, DH Conley, Eastern Elementary, HB Sugg, Sadie Saulter, South Central and Wellcome Middle Schools as well as New Mercies Tabernacle Church and Versademics. The Greenville Housing Authority will be open from June 21 to August 21. 10 and Horizons in Oakwood will be open June 22 through August 22. 3. Six additional sites, EB Aycock, GR Whitfield, Grifton School, Lakeforest, Ridgewood and Wintergreen Primary, will be open July 11-28. All school sites will be closed July 4-7. ReLeaf and North Carolina Cooperative Extension-Pitt County Center are hosting an educational workshop from 10-11 a.m. on June 25 at the Pitt County Ag Center, 403 Government Circle. Experts will discuss which trees thrive in Greenville’s climate and soils. A tour of some trees in the Pitt County Arboretum will take place afterwards. Free entry.

The Family Chess Club now meets from 6-9 p.m. every Wednesday at Apt To Learn, 650 E. Fire Tower Road, Suite B, Winterville. Chess lessons will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Chess sets are provided. All levels of players are welcome. The club is affiliated with the United States Chess Federation and occasionally holds sanctioned chess tournaments. The June 16 weekend kicks off from 6-9 p.m. Friday with the annual Greenville Grooves Concert at the Town Common, 105 E. First St. The musical entertainment will be led by East Carolina University’s Carrol Dashiell, and the event will feature vendors, food trucks, a beer garden and fireworks.

The Greenville Juneteenth Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenville Town Common. The city will partner with community groups to celebrate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The event will include information on public health initiatives, wellness opportunities, food trucks, cultural arts and youth activities, and a variety of stage performances.

The city of Washington, North Carolina will kick off the June 19 holiday at 11 a.m. Saturday on the steps of First Presbyterian Church, 211 W. Second St. Mayor Donald Sadler will read a proclamation officially declaring June 19 a day of June 19 celebration. This will be followed by the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation, which was first read in Washington in January 1863 at First Presbyterian. A poem written by John Randolph, enslaved in Washington at the time of emancipation, will be read by a direct descendant, Naomi A. Randolph Hwesuhunu. City Council members will speak, the June 19 flag will be raised, and the band will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

Journey Tribute Band Trial By Fire will perform at 6 p.m. June 23 at Town Common, 105 E. First St. as part of the Concert on the Common Series at the Greenville Toyota Amphitheater. The event will also feature food trucks and adult beverages sponsored by the Junior League of Greenville.

Arts of the Pamlico will be hosting a Picnic in the Park with Trainwreck from 5-8 p.m. June 26, at Mac “Bear” Hodges Festival Park, 119 Water St., Washington. Free entry. Trainwreck will deliver a high-energy party featuring the best R&B, rock, dance, funk and pop from the 1960s through today. Arts of the Pamlico will sell beer, wine and soft drinks. Omar’s Taco Truck Express will sell dinner.

Jazz Brunch, Giving Day

East Carolina Ivy Foundation will hold its annual giving day to donate to nonprofit organizations and award college scholarships. The event will be a Jazz Brunch at 1:30 p.m. on June 26 at the Greenville Country Club with live music from Carroll Dashiell & Co. Tickets are $50 and table sponsorships are $500. The Department of Kinesiology at ECU is seeking male and female research subjects, ages 18-80, eligible for compensation who wish to begin a three-month physical training program focusing on how molecules of the body are affected by physical activity and exercise.
