Fun family activities and events in Ottawa in June include indoor and outdoor opportunities that will delight all ages. As the school year draws to a close, we know families are incredibly busy this month, but get out your calendar because we think you’ll want to jot down some of these dates!

Please note that after the recent devastating storm that hit Ottawa and surrounding areas, at the time of this writing, we do not know if certain events and locations will be affected as the weeks go by. We are thinking of everyone affected by the storm.

Fun family events and activities in Ottawa in June

Toddler Time at The Log Farm

Take your adventurous toddler to the Log farm for toddler time! On Wednesdays and Thursdays (until October), enjoy a new weekly theme. In June, these include the Birds and Nests, Touch-a-Tractor and Bugs themed days! The event is exclusively for toddlers and their caregivers from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Story time is at 10:30 a.m. Tickets for your little one, the theme of your choice (or plan a weekly trip!) can be purchased online in advance.

Can’t do Toddler Time during the week? The Log Farm is open for families on weekends, and Spring on the Farm is a great time to see baby animals and participate in other on-site activities.

Doors Open Ottawa

The highly anticipated Doors Open Ottawa is back, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to experience this unique architectural event and visit sites around Ottawa for free. Doors Open Ottawa 2022 will take place June 4-5 with in-person opportunities as well as virtual opportunities. The full list of participating locations is available May 30, however, some will require pre-registration. You can find this list on the City of Ottawa website.

GoldKidstra Concert

Celebrate music with the Or Kidstra gig on June 1. Back on stage for an in-person event, enjoy the performance of over 100 young musicians as they play a selection of musical pieces (including those from a galaxy far, far away). Tickets for the 75-minute concert at the Carleton Dominion Chalmers Center are free, but a donation to the OrKidstra program is appreciated. Can’t come in person? The event will be broadcast live.

Festival of vegan snacks that

Vegans, this gastronomic festival is made for you! Bring the family to find the perfect dinner, snack or drink at the Vegans Who Snack Food Festival on June 3 from 5-9 p.m. on Parkdale Avenue. You will find fresh and hot dishes, snacks to take away and tasty desserts. Their PageInstagram also contains many useful tips on events.

Dickinson Days at Manotick Village

Save the date for Dickinson Days in Manotick Village from June 3 to 5. The Village has many planned activities for residents and visitors to the historic district of Manotick. On Fridays, enjoy a family show on stage with Dr. Kaboom and stay for the evening fireworks. Return on Saturday for pancake breakfast, fishing tournament and horse-drawn wagon rides. On Sunday, attend the community barbecue at the end of the event. Throughout the weekend, as part of Doors Open Ottawa, visitors can also visit Watson’s Mill and Dickinson House. Ottawa Garden Days

From June 11 to 19, explore the Ottawa-Gatineau Garden Walk during Ottawa Garden Days. This program of activities and events is aimed at gardening enthusiasts, families, schools and tourists. Ottawa Garden Days is an opportunity for Canadians to enjoy their own garden, visit or participate in their favorite gardening experience, find inspiration at their local garden center or travel to a destination in nearby to enjoy their favorite garden.

Midsummer Aboriginal Festival

The Midsummer Aboriginal Festival, June 21-26, at Mādahòkì Farm on West Hunt Club Road, has planned a full program you won’t want to miss. Start with an Indigenous Day celebration on June 21, followed by education days June 22-24 and the competition powwow on June 25-26. There will be a family entertainment zone, marketplace for shopping, culinary activities, outdoor movies and more. Virtual educational days are available from June 2 to June 21. Je Canadian Children’s Museum (Yes! It’s open again!)

Parents in Ottawa in June will be happy to hear that the Canadian Children’s Museum (in the Canadian Museum of History) has reopened and welcomes children to come play and learn! Imaginations will be fired as kids take to the stage, shop at the market, use the freighter’s crane, just to get started. Tickets can be purchased in advance online.
