Destiny 2 Weekly Reset August 23 Season 18 Launch

0

This week is the launch of Season 18, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be getting our weekly doses of Destiny 2 weekly reset updates. Here’s everything you need to know about Destiny 2 in terms of activities and other updates.

Of course, the biggest is the start of Season 18 and the introduction of ARC 3.0. This will take effect after the Destiny 2 showcase. Expect a brand new season pass and everything that comes with a new season of Destiny. (Namely story content and a branded seasonal artifact.)

Destiny 2 August 23 Showcase

The Destiny 2 showcase will begin at 9:00 AM PST this Tuesday. In this event, we expect plenty of reveals on top of Season 18 content. But look towards anything hinting at Destiny 2’s post-Lightfall expansion.

Also, a little reminder. You can get a unique commemorative emblem from the showcase. And all you have to do is link your Bungie account to your Twitch account and after watching 30 minutes of the events, you should see the reward on your Twitch Drops page.

here’s how you can link your accountcourtesy of Bungie.

Destiny 2 Update 6.2.0 Release Schedule

In preparation for the new season, Destiny 2 will experience scheduled outages beginning at 9:00 a.m. PST. (4:00 p.m. UTC) to 11:00 a.m. PST (6:00 p.m. UTC) on August 23.

  • 9:00 a.m. PST: Maintenance is due to begin.
  • 9:45 AM PST: Destiny 2 goes offline.
  • 10:00 AM PST: Destiny 2 will go back online. Update 6.2.0 will be playable on all platforms and regions.

Make sure to set your alarms until the maintenance is over, guys. You don’t want to run into any weird bugs that could potentially spoil your valuable vault loot.

Festival of the Lost

This being a Season 18 update, we might as well kick off the annual event before moving on to this week’s activities. The annual free play event, Festival of the Lost, will return to Destiny 2 on October 18, 2022.

Let’s dive into this week’s activities starting with this week’s Nightfall.

Destiny 2 August 23 Twilight

For the new season, the first Nightfall star will be “The Way of Glass”. (That’s the Vex on Europa if you’re wondering.) It’s a nice, simple hit. Unfortunately, we don’t know the featured Nightfall weapon yet. We will update this article as soon as we know what it is. So stay tuned for that one.

Grand Master Twilight

Grandmaster Nightfalls will return on October 04, 2022. You will need to be 1595 in terms of power level.

Destiny 2 Crucible August 23

For all of our Crucible players, it would seem that “Maybe” will return in the first week.

“Crevasse” will be featured as a rotator mode but not in this season’s iron banner. Instead, it will be in a weekly Rotator in the Crucible available to play Week 1, 8 and 14, as well as private matches. Iron Banner will introduce players to the new “Eruption” the game mode this season too, might be worth a look.

Trials of Osiris

Looking a bit into the future here, Trials of Osiris will bring back the “Lighthouse” September 16. It’s a good thing that iron banner will return a little earlier from September 6th.

Then we have Sandbox activities… starting with the undisclosed Raid. So Bungie hasn’t announced what the Raid is yet, but they did say a lot of us Guardians already know a bit about it. (We assume these Guardians have been with the game for a very long time now.) We’ll update this article when we know more.

Destiny 2 August 23 Major Raid

The new raid will go live at 10:00 AM PST on August 26, 2022.

Many players in the community are confident that the featured raid will be “The Fall of the King”. Bungie has been teasing it for a while now, but we’re not calling it yet until we know for sure. What we are certain of, however, are the expectations Bungie has set for the first World Race:

  • The raid will launch with Contest Mode enabled for 24 hours.
    • Players will need to be at 1560 Power to be maxed out for all encounters.
  • Clearing the Raid with Contest Mode active is the first step to accessing the new Challenge Mode in the Director and the special Triumph for completing all Challenge Triumphs for each encounter.
  • Completing the Secret Triumph, a curated list of challenges in this newly unlocked Challenge Mode, will be how a squad crosses the World Premiere finish line and claim their prize.
  • To enforce Triumph’s Challenge Mode requirements, your team will wipe out if you don’t meet the pass requirements in any encounter.

Destiny 2 August 23 Raid and Dungeon

From what we’ve gathered, this week’s Raid will be “The Last Wish” as good as “Shattered Throne” Dungeon. It’s very strange since we just had some for this week. It may be a new season and we just get an updated loot pool. If this does not turn out to be the case, we will simply update the article with the correct information. But seeing as Bungie is bringing back a revived raid, don’t be surprised if they decide to bring back the “Garden of Salvation” raid and also the “Pit of Heresy” dungeon.

Destiny 2 Weekly Activities for August 23

The featured weekly mission will be from the Witch Queen campaign. This week’s mission is “The Cunning”, he sees us following the lead of everyone’s second-favorite conscientious objector, Fynch. We must search the four corners of the Throne World and find out how Savathun stole the Light.

Destiny 2 August 23 Eternity Challenges

Dares of Eternity in Season 18 is making some subtle changes to its item loot. Not only are weapons getting a unique origin trait, but we might also see changes to the loot pool itself.

Based on what we can expect for this week, the loot pool:

This may change at any time, so check back with us for an update if needed.

  • The Season of Rivals
    • First in last out
    • Lonely
    • gnawing hunger

Destiny 2 Season 18 Banshee 44 Changes

Starting in Season 18, Banshee-44 will see policy changes that will allow Guardians to get the most out of their Calibration Tests. First, completing daily Gunsmith Bounties will grant 50 Gunsmith Reputation completed daily (down from 25) for a total of 200 Gunsmith Reputation each day.

Second, Armorer reputation gained by dismantling Legendary or Exotic weapons and armor will be increased to 5 each (down from 3). Overall, we’re seeing a huge increase in the speed at which Guardians rank up in this vendor. Who knows? We might actually get to hit that coveted reset before the end of the season.

Destiny 2 August 23 The Eververse Store

Generally, we should see updates to the Eververse store now. Or at least a preview of what is going to be shown. But that doesn’t seem to be the case for this week. This might be a surprise from Bungie. (*cough* collaboration)

Either way, we’ll just have to wait and see after the big reveal. We’ll update this article as soon as we know what’s in store for this week.

Destiny 2 is out now on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC (via Steam). Season Passes 17, 18 and 19 are available for purchase on all available platforms in exchange for 1,000 Silver or $9.99.
