Bulahdelah’s hardworking clubs, groups and organizations will be showcased at an upcoming community exhibition.
On September 3, an event will be held at Wade Park in Bulahdelah to celebrate and showcase the town’s groups, clubs, committees, social and service organizations.
Nicky Hammerl, one of the Expo organizers, told News Of The Area that the showcase will show what the city has to offer people in terms of groups to join, volunteering or where to turn for help. ugly.
“We are a community town and we want everyone to see where they could find friendship, fulfillment, fitness and fun.
“Community groups rely on volunteers to do the bulk of the work and the more people who help, the lighter the load and the more people who can be blessed with the rewards of volunteering and/or join like-minded people,” Nicky said.
“We all need new people in our groups with new ideas and enthusiasm and we want them to know they are welcome to join us.”
Participants can expect to see and hear what the groups have to offer with hands-on activities to participate in.
The Bulahdelah Country Women’s Association will provide its famous Devonshire teas and the Lions Club will launch the barbecue.
The Rural Fire Department will bring their trucks for all to explore, while scouts will teach knots, yogis will demonstrate, the football club will hold drills and there will be a tennis coaching competition.
“There will be local churches, meals on wheels, a performing society, RSL auxiliaries and heritages, a chamber of commerce, a historical society, a men’s shed, an information center, a garden club, a outreach group, a preschool, and A-10 Shun.
“Other groups that weren’t able to attend provide flyers with information about their groups,” says Nicky.
As the Scout Leader of the 1st Bulahdelah Scout Group, Nicky understands the importance of community groups for young and old.
“They connect people and provide platforms for people to learn, grow and thrive,” she said.
Nicky says his scout group is on the verge of losing leaders and without those leaders it risks closure.
“Someone gave me this idea to find new leaders, and I know all the other groups, clubs and organizations need new blood from time to time, so I thought if we could all get together and show what we have to offer, that would definitely benefit everyone,” she said.
“That’s what it’s all about – working as a team, as a collective.”
The event will take place on Saturday, September 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Wade Park in Bulahdelah.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m. there will be an acknowledgment and welcome, followed by a talk on the importance of community spirit and an overview of what each group, club or society does.
In case of wet weather, the Expo will take place in the hall of the School of Arts.
