Children’s Activities Planned for St. Giles Church Fair in Jefferson

St. Giles Church’s mascot, Giles the Toy Mouse, is actively working with parishioners to plan a fun day for the kids at the church’s annual fair on Saturday, July 30. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The address is 72 Gardiner Road, Jefferson.

A highlight of the children’s activities will be a recreational horse show jumping competition – a timed event taking place at 11 a.m. Children can bring their own hobby horse (stick horse) or use a horse provided by the fair organizers.

In addition, there will be a miniature horse presentation event. Before the fair, children can dress up their favorite horse model and then bring it to the fair to be judged and possibly win a prize.

There will be seven children’s activity booths – ring toss, sand art, corn hole, obstacle course, clown beanbag toss, brave rubber duck and a party. fishing. All children’s activities are free through sponsorship by the Berry and Burbank Law Firm.

For adults, there will be a raffle featuring wonderful giveaways and gift certificates from local businesses and restaurants.

There will also be a silent auction of four items: an exquisite handcrafted quilt, professional knee pads, an Australian horse saddle and firewood.

For the first time at the show, payment for purchased items can be made by credit or debit card as well as cash or cheque.

As usual, St. Giles parishioners will have their traditional pie sale, a country cupboard stand offering jams, jellies and vegetables, and a garden corner that will offer potted perennials for planting. fall, grasses, houseplants and geraniums for wintering, and gardening equipment and garden accessories.

Additionally, many vendors will sell a wide variety of handicrafts, including pottery, paintings, soaps, and perfumes.

The majority of the fair’s activities will take place outdoors on the large church grounds under tall pine trees. A local food truck will provide lunch and snacks for hungry visitors.

Money raised will help fund St. Giles and its outreach activities, including ongoing support for the Jefferson-area Community Food Pantry.
