The first day of school is only two weeks away for many and there are plenty of places to get free supplies or information about the upcoming school year.
Children in Fort Worth and Arlington return to school on August 15. Tarrant County Public Health is hosting a series of events in August for children who need to be vaccinated at school.
Back-to-school events begin this weekend. Here are a few to keep in mind:
Fort Worth ISD Resource Fair #1 – August 5
Sponsored by Fort Worth School Board District 9 Administrator Roxanne Martinez, families are welcome to a back-to-school resource fair at Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School.
The event is an opportunity to promote community engagement, pride and excitement for the upcoming school year. Families can expect services such as online registration assistance, backpack/book giveaways, district and community resources, vaccinations, music, games, and a food truck. restoration.

Arlington ISD Back-to-School Kickoff – August 6
Arlington ISD is hosting a backpack giveaway where students can take home a bag full of school supplies and information about vaccinations, health checkups, and haircuts.
The backpack giveaway is at AT&T Stadium and requires tickets. Tickets are free, but parents must register online to attend the event in order to pick up a backpack. Parents can register online here.

Mansfield ISD back to school – August 6
Mansfield ISD is hosting its annual back-to-school party this Saturday at the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts.
The district will distribute more than 4,000 backpacks and 1,500 pairs of shoes. Haircuts and health services will also be available, including free vaccinations. No registration is required for the event, but parents should have their child’s ID card ready for check-in upon arrival.

Fort Worth LGBTQ Group Homecoming Party – August 6
Youth organization LGTBQ Saves is hosting a back-to-school party in Fort Worth.
An assortment of school and hygiene supplies are available, as well as a clothing exchange for those who wish to replace their worn clothes with new or lightly used ones. The event is free, but organizers are asking families to RSVP to ensure there will be enough supplies.

Fort Worth Children’s Center Back-to-School Party – August 6
Fort Worth’s Ordered Steps Learning Center is hosting its first back-to-school party on Saturday.

The City of Grand Prairie is hosting a drive-thru backpack donation to the Dalworth Recreation Center.
Families will walk through the Stanton Garden parking lot and receive backpacks full of school supplies. No registration is necessary for the event and there is a limit of two backpacks per vehicle.
